If you're interested in a story, you can read it! but maybe just skip to the end :P My school is currently involved in doing Jesus Christ Supersar. On just a whim, I decided to give it a shot. I'd never done a musical before, and due to some of the hard vocals and it being a school with limited talent, my teacher (director) asked me to audition for Jesus. I did pretty well in the auditions, and got call backs for infact Judas, but in the end I ended up being an apostle. However, I accepted it, knowing my voice was only young in training and I wasnt experienced in theatre or vocalls enough to take on a lead role. As I got more involved, i connected with the musical like i've never connected with any music ever. I had an epiphany. It changed my life. I began to be able tot understand the story like i never thought I could, and coupled with some amazing music which inspires emotion, the musical began to make me almost go into states of depression. The story, the morals raised, everything, was just incredible. Although I sill accept the people playing the lead roles do have more capable voices than i (only at present/auditions, I am getting much more experienced), none of them can understand. WHy should they? They are all just school students, but it frustrated me to no end, waching literally noone in the show have any idea about the emotions, or story conveyed. enough of my complaining, I would love to get involved. Outside school I would be prepared to involve myselves in other musicals and other chorus parts until I was considered ready, but preferably go straight to lead. I know that the characters of Judas and Jesus i can entirely identify with, and can truly take on the role and understand it. I probably sound like the most arrogant person in the world, but i really just... cant explain it. My world is now different because of this. If anyone would know anyway I can get involved in this... how o go abou auditions, where productions are held, Drama schools, anything. :)

Performing possibly?

Hi there Jack. Is this your debut? your first performance? or even your first musical? It may be that you are connecting with the story and characters because you have found something you really love being a part of. It may not specifically be JCS. Just recently I was part of the backstage crew for JCS and I admit to you that yes it is a very powerful storyline (obviously) however why not try some other musicals first. You may find that you are someone who is able to connect with any character that they play. I know that I can sometimes get like that. I find myself sprouting my lines in everyday conversation or buying clothes for personal use that really only my character would like - not the usual old boring me. So my advice is to check out your local community theatre groups and more specifically the ones that put on musicals regularly(I'm sure Na would have some suggestions for you) and enjoy the experience. Always remember though to have fun and know that others, although they might not have quite the dedication to the story as you have, are enjoying it in the way that they wish to enjoy it. Sky
