Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Wed, 24 June 2009, 04:58 pmOne of my local theatre companies has auditions for this musical coming up at the end of August, and I am keen to find out as much as I can about it. Does anyone know this production at all? Are there any You Tube links of scenes, or even a link to the script that I could follow up?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated :)

Try Stirling Players
They did it at Stirling a few years ago - I think it was 05. Christine Ellis directed it. Someone at Stirling would be able to put you in touch with her.

I was!
I was trying to leave her alone to get over her hangover (I have my own to get over from that show - I miss it so much *cries*) that's why I cam here for information ;)
A bit more info, we are doing the stage musical of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe with book, music and lyrics by Irita Kutchmy. In my research I ahve discovered that there are multiple versions of this musical around.
And for the person who asked to be pointed in the right direction - the show is taking place at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. They generally don't advertise auditions on this site, so keep an eye on the MPAC website (http://www.manpac.com.au) - details for auditions will be posted there as soon as they are made available. But, as Mutley said, auditions are set to take place in August so if there's nothing up just yet, don't worry.

Fantastic!
Ok this hasn't happened in a long time... i think that I have just started foaming at the mouth and/or wet my pants at the thought of this audition coming up.
Narnia *sigh*
See you at auditions Dazza. (And can you be my friend when I get there - cos I'm so frightened about trying out for MPAC stuff - i know i know totally unjustified fear - but i can't not even try for this!)
Might even be able to convince Rebekah to come too.

Not sure who you are,
Not sure who you are, skybe but rest assured, its great doing shows at manpac, thats what i like they make every one welcome, and in the end, you make lots of friends, have done several, just did shout so much fun, wether it be chorus or lead.
should be fun.

Scary MPAC
Hey Sky
Don't be scared... just come on down!
The single scariest thing about doing a show at MPAC is being confronted with a foyer full of people on audition day...
Just remember that roughly half the people auditioning are the ten thousand little kids going for the handful of little kid roles, the odds get much better as you get older.
And I think the room full of people is actually scarier for the director than the auditionees, you agree Daz?
Now we just have to wait with bated breath to see which poor sucker gets the directing gig for this one.
Whoever it is, I'll be there raring to audition because I want the Beaver!!!
...and yes, that is quite possibly the only time that sentence will ever make sense with me saying it :-D
Mind you, I'm still trying to work out whether no Shout! reviews on here is a good thing or a bad thing... ;-)

narnia
Hi Paul, Dazza and all, do you think there will be a part for me to audition for in this show, head still in the clouds after shout
Paul TreasureThu, 25 June 2009, 04:01 pm
More Narnia
Hey Richard
Not knowing the script but knowing the story I'd say there are a couple of roles you may be suitable for, but don't know how they translate in this version...
Keep your ear to the ground, and as soon as Lee announces who has the gig, I'm sure they'd be open to you approaching them about what roles you could audition for
As long as it's not the Beaver... mine I tell you, mine mine mine!!!
:-D

sorry i keep coming up as
sorry i keep coming up as alias, its heather, but for some reason, it wont let my real name come up, so hence the alias.
yea i was looking for reviews to, but nothing, still they do say no news is good news, dont they.
I agree it can be very daunting, when turning up to an audition, and there are all these strange faces, and usually a lot of them are friends, since doing a show together.
but come on down, you never know till you give it a go,
paul, great job again, I was thinking of going for mrs beaver, so now you might change your mind ha ha , now i know that you are not scary ha ha

Scary not knowing anyone - I know!
Hey Skybe, I know what you mean about things being a little scary at auditions - particularly if you're not sure on who you might/might not know there. But I'm pretty sure you'll find some friends - I think your lovely Galileo said he was coming down to auditions and there will undoubtedly be a bunch of others you know amongst the hopefuls. And just remember - auditioning at MPAC is no scarier than auditioning anywhere else. Everyone has just the same chance as everyone else and it's the same talent pool as the peeps who audition at MLT and MMD - MPAC just has that awesome stage - and of course our beloved Ms Lawrence, producer-extraordinaire!
As for the directing job - I'm going a little nanas waiting to hear. I hope, I hope, I hope I get it - but some amazingly talented people put in their EOI's this year, so it's going to be really hard for them to pick someone! But I do agree with you Paul - the large numbers of auditionees is much scarier for the Director - I remember feeling light headed looking at the sea of faces we had for Sleeping Beauty (but extremely excited at the same time - so many people there means people bring their absolute 'A' game and you end up with the best of the best) as I'm sure you did for SHOUT.
Anyway, directing the show or not, I will be there with bells on. This is one of my all time favourite stories and I can't wait to be a part of bringing it to life on stage - no matter what capacity I get the chance to, even if it's making coffees for the cast at interval *winks* Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and hoping to see some fresh new ones - newbies are always welcome to join the family I say :) And yes Skybe, you should convince that sister of yours to come on down too!

You are all right....so very right
Alias (Heather), Paul and of course Dazza...thanks for your welcoming words.
Just attended a 'Women In Leadership' course today and they kept saying that everyone has fears but the difference between someone who makes it (as a leader) and someone who doesnt make it (as a leader). The leaders face the fear and jump in head first. Long story short - I consider myself and leader in life so.......I guess I'll see you guys at auditions.
Narnia *sigh - again*

Audition date is set
Well, I can now confirm that the audition date for this show has been set. Anyone interested in auditioning, I would suggest keeping Sunday 9th August free :)
Also, I was lucky enough to be advised that I have been chosen to direct this show (*jumps up and down whooping with delight and excitement*). I am now in the process of choosing some audition scenes and preparing the audition packs. As soon as we have all of that set I will post an audition notice - I should have it all ready to go by the end of next week. However, if anyone has any questions at this early stage, pease feel free to contact me via e-mail (bedlam34@hotmail.com or Darren.Bilston@kwinana.wa.gov.au) or phone (041 486 7721) and I will be happy to help you out.
Hope to see as many of you as possible on August 9th - let's go through the wardrobe together :D

Congrats
Looks like I'll have to find someone else to be my friend at auditions as you'll be busy being Mr Director.
Congrats Darren. Sleeping Beauty was so magical to watch - hopefully this time I can be part of the show.

Hey DazzaB, I'm new to all
Hey DazzaB,
I'm new to all this and was put onto it by a friend but I wondered if you were also looking for backstage staff. I had a lot experience back in high school as backstage manager and lighting and stuff and I'd be interested. If you are looking, feel free to contact me.
DazzaBTue, 7 July 2009, 08:49 am
Yes Yes Yes!
Hi Cass A,
I can guarantee you that you will be welcomed to the theatre with open arms if you are interested in working backstage! The stage-manager has already been chosen but she will be looking for a stage crew. In addition, there will be other crew roles that will need to be filled. My request would be that you come down to the auditions on Sunday 9th August and pass on your contact details to the Stage Manager (Mel) and/or the Producer (Lee). If you can't make it, that's cool, just send your contact info to me (bedlam34@hotmail.com or Darren.Bilston@kwinana.wa.gov.au) and I will pass it on to the people that need to know for you :)
*Hoping you do come down and join our family*
