Do you find yourself belting "Defying Gravity" or "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" or "Climb Every Mountain" at the top of your lungs? Do you prefer the stylings of Rogers and Hammerstein or Sondheim over Britney Spears or Fall Out Boy? Ferrara Karaoke Bar, located on Milligan St in the city, knows there are musical theatre fans out there looking for a venue to show off the songs they spend hours preparing in their bedroom. You may not have even seen the musical, but you know every lyric, every character, every original cast member's biography. Head down to Ferrara Karaoke Bar on the first Thursday of every month for a chance to sing all your favourites in a fun environment. Being a karaoke bar, Ferrara supplies the music (lyrics will appear on the screen, but it's not like you need them anyway!) all you need to do is turn up and wow the crowds. Musical Theatre Thursdays are a great chance for cast members to come along after rehearsals and join together in song - what better way to bond as a group? It's also a great opportunity to meet like-minded theatre folk and chat about all things musical. The bar has quite an extensive repetoire of songs, but are still looking to build on this and any suggestions to staff will be taken into consideration. Musicals include: Wicked, Rent, Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Sound of Music; As well as songs from: Rocky Horror, Wizard of Oz, A Chorusline, Meet Me in St Louis, Singing in the Rain ... with more to come! Ferrara is open from 8pm, and entry and singing are free to anyone above the age of 18. A pretty strict dress code does apply: No shorts, singlets, thongs or running shoes/sneakers. The next few Musical Theatre Karaoke nights will be: February 5 March 5 April 2 May 7 Hope to see lots of new faces soon! New in Perth

My name is Eduardo Escobar and I am from Mexico City. My wife and I arrived to Perth last week. My wife, Adriana Sanchez-Navarro, is a Theatre Producer and she will study a master degree in arts management at WAAPA (ECU) . I am a mexican artistic director who has worked in theatre for more than 14 years. Now that we arrived to Perth I am looking for a job and I would love to continue working in theatre at any department. For this reason, I am writting to the artistic community asking for any opportunity. I look foward to an opportunity to speak with someone of the community. if there is a opportunity I can participate with any of you in any project. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Yours sincerely. Eduardo Escobar

oh dear

please note: there is a strict dress code at Ferrara. No thongs, shorts, running shoes, sneakers, old denim... Clothes however, are a requirement. If you get nervous, feel free to imagine everyone in their underpants, but please remember to re-clothe audience members at the end of the song.

Timing

It seems that timing is of the utmost importance with this event.

If you feel that, after a fun evening at one of the Thursday evening theatre performances, you might like to pop along and exercise your lack-lustre vocal chords - remember to phone ahead to make sure the "Musical Theatre Karaoke" group are in fact still in attendance at the Ferrara Bar.

It tends to get a little embarrassing for both publican and customer alike when a small group of would be vocalists turn up to find out the people they were hoping to catch up with have turned in their microphones and gone home.

Ah Well, maybe next time...... (at least Fast Eddy's welcomed the patronage)

*Be nice to your tech's - or they'll turn out the lights and go home.*

Ferrara is normally open

Ferrara is normally open till 1am on Thursdays, but if there aren't any customers, the manager may close at 12. I heard a few people turned up on their own last month, realised they didnt know anybody, and left. This is why I suggest you get a group of friends together, arrive early, and sing the night away! Next Musical Theatre night, Thursday April 2. Hope to see many new faces x
