Finding rights that aren't on Doollee - any ideas?
Tue, 12 June 2007, 11:46 pmI'm trying to work out who holds the rights to "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee", with a tentative view to proposing it for UDS to put on at some point next year - mostly for selfish reasons, as I'm currently quite in love with it! I can't find anything Googling, it's not on the musical's official website or HalLeonard, and Doollee doesn't list any literary agent. Are there other websites I could try? Otherwise I can always call Sydney Theatre Company... but any other ideas would be much appreciated!
Cheers! :)

Spelling Bee Rights
It isn't available yet. Professional production is running soon in Sydney. There isn't an amateur release in the US yet either as it is still on national tour.

You can always try finding
You can always try finding a printed version of the text. Quite often in books of plays there is a little info about who to contact about the rights. ... But then not knowing anything about the play, I'd suggest heeding what's said above.

You can probably find a copy of the lib or score on Amazon US and they will sell them to you in Australia. As I understand it the amateur rights are not yet available. Check with MTI (Music Theatre International) or Tams Witmark in the States. They both have good websites.
Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing.
