Lily's Round- A Karaoke Musical [ MUST SEE ]
Sat, 10 Mar 2007, 02:12 pmRuns from the Saturday 10th of March 2007 through till Saturday 17th of March 2007 for 7 performances only.
For five years a group of friends have found refuge from the madness of the outside world in the Friday night meetings of the Kwinana Kamikaze Karaoke Krooners club. Whilst they strut their stuff up on the small stage at their local hotel cares and worries fade away, to be replaced by a sense of freedom and exhilaration they can find nowhere else.
Welded together by a common love of performing karaoke, the "Krooners" come to terms with the quirks, flaws and failures of themselves and each other - even when tested by such things as betrayal and adultery.
Without warning the walls of their safe haven come crashing in upon them as they discover that the hotel has been sold to a big developer. Is there anywhere else for them to go and will the club survive the move?
Lily's Round - A Karaoke Musical examines the tensions and pressures of group dynamics and questions the true nature and value of community. It contains powerful drama, exuberant dance, a great deal of laughter and an enormous amount of karaoke anthems such as Blame It On The Boogie, Devil Gate Drive, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Let's Stick Together, YMCA, American Pie to name but a few.
All the actors, stage crew and band members are composed of ex John Curtin students. The musical director is Shona Beringer - head of Music Theatre - and the choreographer is Lily Newbury Freeman.
Lily's Round - A Karaoke Musical has been devised, written and directed by Paul Peacock and Ian Toyne, who have enjoyed extensive careers in international and national professional musical theatre, and who have achieved wonderful results with current John Curtin students over the last two years.
Tickets can be purchased by calling 9433 7200 or at the door. It is an outstanding new musical and I implore you to all come watch it
best ever!
