Males in WAAPA!

Fri, 15 Sept 2006, 02:25 pmThere are less men than women who audition for these sorts of things, so the odds will always be in favour of the men, as Alex has already stated. That is just the nature of the industry, but if we were to hypothetically say that the number of people auditioning was exactly the same then the odds are irrelevant. As the intake is a 50/50 mix, there is no real comparison to make. In effect, there are two separate intakes; one for men, one for women.
What you then need to take into account is things that you simply cannot know;
- What are the teachers looking for this year?
- Do they have a set agenda (and I do not mean this in a negative way) based on the shows they have planned?
- What are the shows they have planned?
- Who's on the panel?
- Is the focus to be singing, dancing, movement? A bit of all three?
All that you can do is go in there, show them what you have got and hope that what they are looking for is someone just like you.
