Sydney Shows

I had the good fortune to visit Sydney recently (last weekend!) and catch a couple of shows.Amy's View by David Hare at the Opera House was well worth a look. As was the Duchess of Malfi a classic Jacobean tragedy by John Webster. The latter production featured Perth actress, Kate Randall, in the title role - something she clearly relished!Duchess has received some very warm reviews in the press - one only hesitating to name the production "play of the year" because there is so long to go. I might not have gone that far in my praise of the production, but the level of committment and skill from the actors involved was enviable.Once again i was struck by the notion that the wonderful shows we hear of elsewhere around the world are not so much better than the very best we can see here in Perth. Sure there's more of it. But the proportions of good to bad and mediocre remain about the same.I intend to post a more in depth record of my impressions of the shows soon. But does anyone else share my view that the very best and very worst vary little from city to city, continent to continent, that there's just more or less of each?Cheers
Grant
