The Wizard of Oz
Mon, 22 July 2013, 06:59 pmOn Saturday last I was priviledged to watch a youth production of The Wizard of Oz, directed by Katherine Freind and presented by The Stage Key Company at Melville Theatre's venue
(And beforw Walter Plinge gets going- yes I do know the people behind this company and they are my friends)
If this is the future of theatre, then it is in safe hands. It was an energetic and fun filled production with everyone on stage giving their all to the show .I had not intended to single out anyone but I have to mention Jasmine Perkins Scarecrow as a highlight and Matilda Jenkins as the Wicked Witch as standouts.
The entire cast worked well together, their ages ranged from 6 - 16, costumes were gorgeous (thanks to parents and help from Koorliny Arts Centre) and the entire hour was delight froim start to finish The 'Lullaby League ' of four tiny ballerinas were a delight.
I can on;y speculate about the tremendous amount of time and effort put into this production by everyone involved for two shows- but it was well worth it, as the capacity audience showed.
