Love is on the air
Thu, 30 June 2011, 04:32 pmFlat screens be buggered! Now thats entertainment! -Heard whilst wandering out of the amazing Phoenix Theatre venue after watching another Johnny Grimshaw written, Directed (and acted it seems ) comedy gem. To address the former, well that is a dilemma all theatres face, trying to pry audiences away from their cherished tellies, triple that challenge if it happens to be raining! But to the 40 odd punters who, like myself revel in Johnny Grimshaws' contempory takes on life, in this case love, noone left disappointed. Nothing better than a cleverly written script delivered crisply, and I particularly enjoyed the performances of the transvestite Goldie, and the talk show host Cindy well done .. err girls. John Ford as a sexologist? who would have thought, bloody funny character that and well pulled off! Overall the show was quality entertainment, and a great night out.If I could be a bit picky, projection was a bit down and comedic timing was likewise, a bit of a pity in a show so rich with quality gags and one liners. But first rate entertainment, and great venue, dont miss it and remember the flat screen wont miss you and the rain wonty hurt you!. Congratulations Johnny Grim cast and crew, another A Lad Insane Classic.
