Dragon Punch
Wed, 16 Feb 2011, 12:07 pm‘Dragon Punch’ is a stand-up comedy show, written and performed by John Robertson. It is showing at the Blue Room Studio, James Street, Northbridge nightly at 7.00 pm until Friday 18th February.
When John meets his in-laws, he comes to blows. Being a computer game fanatic he starts to wonder how the various characters over the years would have dealt with the situation.
Being generation W (yes, you didn’t even know there was one) when it comes to computer games I am a total ignoramus, however I found the explanations and the rapport fascinating. There is something about John’s style that simply locks you onto him.
This show didn’t have any too controversial topics, just straightforward inoffensive hilarity.
John’s humour is fast, absurd and zany. With a thousand and one situations to draw on, he is never lost for a word or a quick reply. With only a bottle of ‘red’ for props, he relies mainly on his manic expressions and colourful descriptions. He can change in a split second from a small child to a threatening ogre.
A very funny extremely well received by the full house.
