‘Breathe In’ is the first show of the Blue Room Fringe season. This is Natalie Di Risio’s writing and directing debut. The show is at 7.00 each evening in the Blue Room Studio, Northbridge until 4th February.

The wardrobe door opens and a broken marionette (Mikala Westall) emerges. She starts to play with the other toys in the room, before developing more adult tastes. We are taken through a love affair, the work of a Frankenstein-like surgeon, the excitement of being a Masterchef – the many novel ideas are varied and flow fast.

Mikala keeps the pace of this mainly mime, 50-minute performance bouncing along. Her actions, expressions are well directed by Natalie before being given a beautifully smooth touch by choreographer Demelza Rogers. The lighting and atmospheric music is controlled by Matty Marino.

This team have all been connected with the highly successful Renegade Productions and they have carried the quality through to this production.
Very well conceived and presented.
