Dont you just love it when you go to a local theatre with low expectations then get blown away by the talent you witness there?? Fresh out of seeing 'The graduate' with Jerry Hall, packed to the rafters and - YAWNSVILLE I went to the Phoenix Theatre to see All the Kings Men. I can only say I was spellbound by the performance. Jane Sherwoods monologue set the standard and held my interest when I desperately searched for imperfections for it not to! Mia Martin- WOW what a star! You madam can teach a lanky ol texan lady something about acting! Superb! How is it possible for someone to remember such a monologue let alone carry it out with such convincing passion. I was disapointed you didnt appear after the show so I could congratulate you personally (maybe fortuitous as there is a possibility I may have turned into a mumbling, star struck fan which would have been embarrassing!) To the beautiful girls who filled the other roles, dancing and otherwise - fantastic!! The lady with the New York accent - take a bow - excellent! Well done to all involved - Phoenix Theatre - whoever you are, you rock!!

All the kings women

I went along and saw this last Saturday evening, and have to agree with the Sandman's comments. In terms of a slick production, this rates ten out of ten, and I take my hat off to the director and cast and crew for the hard work that's gone into this show. The one great thing about putting your own shows on, is that you can appreicate the work others do. I hate to single out individiduals, for I thought all the cast did a remarkable job, but if I were pushed to select a few highlights, I'd go for Ellen O'Connor's impersonation of Elvis (I loved it), Mia Martins supermarket housewife (this is one talented lady), and Heather McGeorge, Danni Close and Amanda Watson as the Whitehose secretary's (I thought the choreography was outstanding, and carried superbly by the girls. I also enjoyed Les Lee as the guard outside Gracelands. He had me believing I was there talking with him. Congratulations to all, I wish you all the success for the remainder of the season.
