The Timely Death of Victor Blott Original concept & storyline by Elizabeth Millington & David Morton Written by Maxine Mellor Directed by David Morton Presented by Metro Arts & Dead Puppet Society Sue Benner Theatre, Edward St, Brisbane “Isn’t it better to die with magic than to live with none?” This distinctive production asks the kind of question you would only find in make-believe, but the extraordinary puppet-character of Victor Blott conveys a surprising sense of reality. Described as gothic fairytale for grown-ups, the story set in Victorian times surrounds a little boy born without a heartbeat, Victor Blott. When all around him thought he was dead on arrival, his mother clutched him to her chest and 10 years on he amazingly still lives. His world is a gloomy underground room where he spends most of his time in the company of his loving mother with a breaking heart... By Kellie Scott. A superb Perfomance!

A Superb performance! I know it sounds cliché but if there were ever a performance to fit the description, it would be The Timely Death of Victor Blott. This performance is everything you could desire in an evening of theatre; a story that takes you on a journey from bewilderment to shattering realisation, technically sound and impressive lighting, audio and visual effects, depths of emotion and something special that draws you out above your own imagination. That something special is the puppetry. I have never left the theatre in awe of how emotionally invested I could be in the life and experiences of the main character in a play, only to realise that very character was not played by an actor nor even a human being but an inanimate puppet.
