‘Girls of the Globe’ was this year’s annual graduation show for Sugar Blue Burlesque. It was presented at The Rechabites Hall on 10th September 2008.

Sugar Blue is a company that trains girls in the art of burlesque. It covers all aspects of dancing, tantalising and semi-striptease, but it was obvious that the main object of the training was to give the girls fun. The cast ranged from the delicate to the cuddly, from housewives to trained dancers. With dances from belly dancing to tassel spinning!

The show MC was the loose lipped, Fanny La Rue, with the show managed by Adora Derriere. The costumes were stunning, the script hilarious, the music wild and the lights sparkled as these girls, who a year ago had probably never been in anything other than the school Nativity Play, showed their newfound skills.

Similar shows are at The Bakery in James Street on the last Sunday of the month. Good semi-clean fun.
