I happened to be lucky enough to see cabaret last night and I thought the production was stunning. My first kudos must go to the production team as a whole and the fine direction by Paul Treasure of this impeccable cast. Tyler Jones as Emcee was so charismatic and witty that every second he was on stage was an absolute gift. He has a strong voice that only added to his sublime on-stage delivery. Breeahn Jones as Sally also had such a mighty and beautiful voice and was so controlled yet powerful in her delivery of the character. The rest of the cast was also highly impressive and a special mention is deserved to the highly capable Fraulein Schneider as well as the cabaret girls who allowed the show to be brought to life with their wonderful characterizations. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the musical Cabaret or simply theater itself as this show is a stunning example of what hard work and an immensity of local talent can accomplish. - Theo

A different point of view

I went with a friend to see cabaret yesterday. When it had finished I turned to my friend and said "What a ride!" And I meant it. Now...bear in mind that my review is from a completely amateur perspective. Amateur... meaning that it is unblemished by seething professional jealousy, untainted by anally retentive delusions of self promoted grandeur, and free from evil bitchiness of being personally wounded by the success of others...(kindest regards to Mr. Purge) GET THIS... "I LOVED IT" Paul Treasure presented a show that was gritty, entertaining and involving. From the average "man on the street" perspective, and lets face it Mr Purge, thats what puts bums on seats and pays the bills, this play shone brightly. Tyler Jones as Emcee was an absolute delight. This character is traditionally, wonderfully camp and could never be too "over the top". Tyler took ownership of this character and made it his own. Well done Tyler, you held the show together beautifully. Tim How...Clifford Bradshaw...the inevitable straight guy that all the jokes bounce off...only to become the hero, the moral crusader. Excellent and convincing work. Paris Romanis portrayed Ernst Ludwig beautifully. Strong, forceful and forthright. The ultimate radical Nazi. Frauleins Shcneider and Kost, You ladies stole our hearts and took us with you through your journeys of joy, despair and heartbreak. Well done to both Lindsay Oelsnik and Morgan Sleeman on outstanding performances. Breeahn Jones as Sally Bowles. What can I say. A beautifully strong performance. Wonderful light and shade portrayed in your character...And what a voice!!!!! The Kit Kat Boys. Beautiful boys with beautiful voices. I could sit and listen to you guys sing for hours on end. The Kit Kat Girls. Again... if you girls did a song and dance revue on your own, I'd be there watching and listening with great delight. The Orchestra...It was actually quite nice to watch a play with live music...Where the musicians became part of the story. Well done. Costumes were excellent and set design, although basic, suited the whole perfomance. To sum up.... I really enjoyed myself and I dont have a bad word to say about Kwinana Theatre Workshops presentation of CABARET.
