What Are Little Girls Made Of?
Sat, 10 May 2008, 12:44 pmI saw this comedy at Kwinana last week with my 13 year old daughter. Not sure when it closes - apologies if this review is a bit late.
This play reminded me of my early experience of community theatre in suburban Adelaide in the 1960s - an elabourate and well-furnished set, improbable script, actors of varying shapes, sizes and levels of experience and some odd-ball characters, probably not too far removed from the real-life personae of the performers themselves.
When I was 13, I thought that 'acting' included being a bit wooden, slow on cues and treading on each others' lines. It seems that today's generation is more critical. Perhaps including drama in the high school curriculum is starting to pay off?
Anyway, I found the whole show quite entertaining, if lacking somewhat in polish. My daughter loved it, although she found it ran a bit too long for her attention span. Well done, all.
