'Navigating' - steady as she goes
Mon, 17 Sept 2007, 01:25 pmAfter losing another cast member overboard, this time Maureen Barnett for health reasons, we have managed to press-gang Rosemary Longhurst into picking up the part of Pam Shaw with the season bearing down on us. Thank you, Rosemary and best wishes for a speedy recovery, Maureen.
Another cast member recently remarked to me that he did not find any of the characters in this play particularly likeable, which on paper is a fair enough observation. However, even though Mrs Shaw is a bit of a hen-pecking husband-basher, I am sure Rosemary will bring out her grieving mother side in such a way as to endear her to any audience, as she is renowned for doing.
Meanwhile, all the other characters are developing nicely and cast and crew are pulling together well above and beyond the call of duty. We are all now looking forward to opening at Melville Theatre on Friday 5 October and I for one would be delighted if a few of my fellow reviewers showed up!
