The Shadow1 post in thread
Firstly, my congratulations to the fabulous cast of this show. I saw the show on the 12th and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had heard a little about the show and some the problems they were experiencing but last night was thoroughly enjoyable experience. A few little hiccups in the sound but nothing to write home about always difficult with that many radio mics and a live orchestra. A few little quirky mistakes throughout the night on stage such as a double cartwheel that ended in a two-body pile up and a bit of an overconfident tugger ending up on his bottom bet that hurts today. The dancing was amazing the choreography top notch Fiona Scott has done a magnificent job and should be commended. The orchestra was in fine form are they pro's or am. The direction of the piece was great. Sometimes between songs people stand around waiting for the next dance or song to begin but not last night the cast acted throughout the night. The entire cast should be commended on the energy and performance that they gave all night. They are a great bunch and I believe some of them are first timers, which certainly didn’t show. Standouts in my mind were: Mistofeles he is a top dancer and shows all the poise and grace to go further. Mungojerrie and Rumpleteaser to even be able to sing while doing all that acrobattery is amazing. Jennyanydots a tap machine and certainly suited the role. Grizabella all I can say is fantastic. Definitely a standout amazing voice. Munkustrap powerful voice and good characterization and I saw none of the uncomfortableness that the reviews of the 12th saw. He carried off the character of Munkustrap well. Rum Tum while a bit pansy for rum tum he nevertheless entertained with his Mick Jaggerness, suffered a bit on the rougher parts of his vocal range but a good performer. There were more but these are the ones I had to mention Victoria and Jemima were great as was Skimbleshanks. Chookas to all for the rest of the season and I encourage others to go and see the show it is well worth it.
