Last night I had the great pleasure of going to see 'Cosi' produced by GRADs, directed by Grant Malcolm... and what a pleasure it was. I can not say that there was one performer who shone above the rest of the cast, each performer performed well. My congratulations to all of the cast. Seton Pollock and Nick Kadmos (Lewis and Roy) who hardly ever left the stage, both did a brilliant job in creating a beautiful tension between director and back-seat director/actor. Peter Nettleton, Scott Sheridan, Beth Legg, Sonia Marcon, Diane Fischer and Eliot McCann (Henry, Doug, Cherry, Julie, Ruth and Zac) created the rest of the bunch of "actors" each with their own quirks and back stories... and each drawing a laugh from the audience. From Cherry's beautiful mime singing, to Doug's monologue about cats, to (my favourite moment I'm afraid to say) Zac's falling asleep and piano skills - just to name a few. Also congratulations to Sarah McKellar, Glen Hunting and John Deasy (Lucy, Nick and Justin) who completed the cast with Lewis' "sane" companions in the story... if you can call them that. Talk about feeling empanthy for the main character, between a cheating girlfriend with a best mate and room full of loonies; I really don't know which one would be worse. With all this said, a big congratulations to Grant Malcolm with his debue from hiatus in the field of directing. Beautifully crafted with a great use of space and set. All up I give it 4 and half cookies (chocolate chip ;)) for a damn good belly bellowing laugh for 3 hours. Well worth going to see!
