"AWAKENINGS" at the Southwest One Act Festival

My hearty congrats, not only to the trophy-winners but also to everyone who made the effort to be involved in this festival. A few gripes though. First, I thought the rules were a bit naff. Having been told to be at the theatre at least 30 minutes before our scheduled performance time, we arrived 45 minutes early, only to be told we could not get in because there was a performance in progress. So we sat with our set, props etc out in the less than salubrious back yard of the Little Theatre until 10 minutes before curtain time, then had to rush like mad and compete with the people from the next play to get make-up, costumes and set done in time. All a bit unsettling, to say the least. Secondly, I think it is a bit rich to ban actors and crew who have already performed from entering the auditorium to see the subsequent plays in the session. Is this because they generally (and justifiably) refuse to pay, thus taking seats from other bums? In any case, it appears that this rule was honoured more in the breach than in the observance. Thirdly, it was "The Last DANCE of the Plum Sisters", not "The Last of the Plum Sisters", as someone who had been provided with a copy of and supposedly read the script should have well known. Finally, I made a comment about the adjudication on Daniel Kershaw's blog which seems to have started some debate. To clarify, my comment was in no way intended to suggest that Daniel's play was not worthy of the awards it gleaned. Bring it on, Darlington! Ssstinger>>>
