Footloose review
I originally came to see this production on the Friday night, however just before the end of the first act Mandurah Performing Arts Centre lost power. Luckily i was able to return the next day and view the entire production. Firstly though my congratulations go to the cast for the Friday Night performance who without lights or music continued on with the musical number until the curtin could be lowered. As for the production as a whole all I can saw is wow!! What an awesome show. In particular the choreography was amazing, well done to Daniel Box and Ashton Boaden. The show was well cast, in particular the leads, Lisa Taylor and Jesse Angus, both of whom I have seen in productions before and didn't disappoint. The only criticsim I have is that vocally there were a couple places in the show where it wasn't as strong as other productions I have seen at MPAC, but this didn't detract from the show as a whole! Well done guys
p.s to a certain cast member who I know I'm still trying to figure it out ok !!

Footloose Fever
On holidays in Western Australia, I decided to explore your gorgeous South West region. I spent the weekend in Mandurah and decided to purchase a ticket for my partner and I to Footloose at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre....
Wow! Being from London, I see alot of professional shows and this cast with a bit of polishing could be on the West End. The choreography was just dynamic and at all times exciting and high energy! After all, it was a story of dance and dance certainly carried this show. Well done to the choreographers who obviously are very talented and hugely experienced!
We hope to see some of you grace our London stages!

wonderful to be apart of it
Hi Guys,
This is Sonja Scott here, i played Rusty in the Mandurah Performing Arts version of Footloose, i have to tell you that i have been in a few productions, but this one just takes the cake. I have never in my life had so much fun, this is DEFINATELY the BEST production that MPAC has ever put on.
We had an American talent scout come to see it and she was very surprised that we werent all on the big theatre stages touring the world.
I want to thank all of the girls in out little group, Janine, Lisa and Meg's, eventhough it was tough at certain times due to the directors focus, with the help of us girls getting down to it, we pulled off the best show ever!!
p.s I REALLY MISS SINGING MY SONG!!
Lets Hear it for the Boy!!! :D

So, why weren't you scouted
So, why weren't you scouted by the 'talent' scout?
I have been told by a few people I know that the production overall was very good. They were especially impressed by the choreography and singing, but found the quality of the acting a little bit lax.
Looking forward to seeing Beauty and the Beast.
Dan.

Honesty...
Daniel - as i hide behind a false screen name - i find the need to say...God I just love that honesty of yours!
Congrats on your success in Bunbury - you all deserved it. Hope Perth Fest goes as well for you.
And to the Footloose cast/crew - there is patting yourself and on the back for a job well done (which i firmly believe in) and then there is being just plain annoying. A large production is always a positive and exciting thing to be a part of, so yes Im sure you did feel the production went well. However please leave the reviews up to those in the audience.
I have heard comments from 2 people who saw the show and one person who was involved in the production. But I will add that I did not personally see the production so I cannot, and choose not to, comment on whether is was good or not.

Good to see that your
Good to see that your gaining some experience in the Mandurah Arts Centre productions. However stay grounded if your planning on a future in the industry.
It is easy to think appearing on the main stage is reaching success. I personally think ALL amateur productions at Mandurah Arts Centre should commence in the smaller Fishtrap theatre, that way you earn a step up when handling the larger stage & audience. It would become a good stepping stone and would assist any young hopefuls to progress at an 'even rate' - otherwise when they venture up to Perth they would not be heading for a major fall.
If you do not think this is a good idea, think or study the workings in places like Las Vegas, or possibly why shows are played off broadway and have to play rep company theatres before reaching the West End?
How do I know this...experience...

well, what to say..
well, what to say.. is it right to think that dan is simply complaining that a) the reviews arent actual review. this could b due to the fact that these peo-ple in the cast are amazingly talented and wanting to congratulate their fellow cast members. review or no review let these people talk.
that is all
oh/. i agree with the girl about dustyn :P lol.. and half of the remaining cast :)

Sonja
Onya Sonja, you were absolutely terrific in this production. Your solo song blue the socks off everyone (including me) I saw people seated around me with their mouths open and their applause was deafening.
Proud of you.

Not sure how to say what I really want to say here!
I think that some of you need to relax and let the freedom of speech (or text) right be excercised. For those of you that think you are offering advice that is oh so worldly... when you've actually immersed yourself in the professional world that is the Arts, you'll find yourselves being encouraging not trying to knock people down. And for those of you that think Perth can be a major fall... well good luck for Sydney/Melbourne and the rest of the world... you've got no idea.
And then there is telling people what to comment on and what not to... refer back to my first sentence.
This website I'm pretty sure would have been designed for people within the arts to support one another... some of the above comments aren't being honest... they're simply unneccesary. You need to start being a little more encouraging.... and by that, I don't mean wrapping people in cotton wool and stroking their ego's, there's a difference.

There seems to be something
There seems to be something about Footloose as a show that encourages the younger cast members to react in this way (very self congratulatory) In a way good on em just be careful guys not to let the euphoria of one great show convince you that you are all that it can lead you down a very unpleasant path.
Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing.
