At last, by popular demand – the review of ‘Death by Chocolate’.

Melville theatre’s latest production set the scene with the music from ‘Hitchcock Presents’.

The curtains opened to a high quality, very well lit set of the office of a health spa. The owner is seated at his desk when a gun appears and within 20 seconds Stuart RichesÂ’ acting career came to a brutal end. Thankfully his career as the director went on to give Melville Theatre one of the best shows that it has produced in months.

Many of the cast were new comers and performed superbly. Award winning actor Peter Nettleton (John Stone, the new manager of the Spa) kept the comedy pace going. His delivery was outstanding. Despite clear speech many of the jokes seemed lost on the audience.

The performance of Geoffrey Leeder (as the gay Dick Simmering) was hilarious and got a well deserved round of applause mid scene.

Every actor captured their very different characters well and kept the flow going. The costume designs were well thought out and helped the humour.

I saw the show whilst a massive storm was going through but the whole cast kept going unfalteringly. A very funny show, well worth the trip out on a lousy night.

Congratulations to all concerned.
