Butler - an apology

As director of "What the Butler saw" I would like to apologise to anyone who has been irritated by the ridiculous in-jokery of the "Jo Orton pseudonym" threads.

I should point out that, contrary to many implications, I have had no hand in this idiotically far fetched attempt to advertise our play. In my honest belief, this website should be reserved for genuine expressions of opinion or reviews.

I do think it is abusing the principles on which Theatre Australia operates to use it for thinly disguised publicity drives for our production, playing at the Dolphin Theatre tonight and then next Wednesday to Saturday at 8.00 pm.

Even when the play in question is "an excellent production, you can really see the cast feeding off each others' and the audience's energy" (Alicia Smith) it does not excuse this kind of cheap advertising ploy.

Quite right Stephen and well said! I, for one, would not want to make any gratuitous posting on this 'high brow' web-site that would in any way induce an undecided 'punter' to take a chance on seeing your well-recieved production despite the fact that I've heard there are naked birds on the stage indulging in lesbo-sadomasicistic sex...
Now I've got to get back to contacting all these 13 year old actresses who are clearly seeking a distinguished and erudite mentor, like myself, to prepare them for a career on the boards...
As the great inspector once said, "I'll kill you Butler!"
