My name is Bruno Schiappa, i am portuguese and i am a Drama teacher/Actor/Director and playwright.
I took a Master degree in thearical studies at the Lisbon University - Faculdade de Letras. I graduated as an actor/director at the Superior School of theatre and cinema.
I am willng to take a PHD in Theatrical Anthropology and study the relations between ritual and modern society through a theatrical point of view and i have been searching several possibilities.
The most realistic for me is to work as a teacher (since i do not have a finacial indepencen that allows to stdudy without working) in a country of english expression (the language i dominate better after my own - portuguese) that is close to ritualistic areas. I came to the conclusion that Australia is the best shot since it is not just a wonderful country full of energy and willing to grow but also a place close to peoples who still live in a ritual structure.
I have been meeting some australian tourists and they all seem to be the kind of people that for is ideal: nice, bright, social and with targets for the humanity.
Theatre is for me the main area of mankind since it is about representing pre-existing, ideal or actual models. It also reflects our spirit and nature and, even when a people is different in matters understand their ways through their theatre.
Therefore, i see theatre not only as a serious professional art and acting as a serious matter that takes a deep training but also as a tool for scientific knowledge.
My purpose for writing this email is to ask you to consider the chance of accepting me in a short future as a drama teacher in your school (i am also trained in mime and tap dance as well as contemporary dance) and thus help me to be able to take a PHD in your country and try to contribute for the advance of the knowledge on human kind and their organization.
I am specialized in The Method and i work with Marcia Haufrecht (a member of the Actors Studio) since 1995.
I have some reference letters that i can send to you if you will be willing to study my application.
