I had seen the movie version of The Full Monty many years before and last night I watched the crew at Playlovers perform their version. And I laughed and laughed, my wife and the other 3 females who accompanied us laughed but they also empathised with the male members of the cast (I'm sure the use of the word members will be misconstrued by some, but hey, it was that kind of show). I was toying with the idea of taking my grand-daughter and was glad that I didn't, there is a fair amount of adult language in the show, but it is in context and would probably have gone over her head although I would have been uncomfortable. The cast were very strong and if I had to single anyone out for an extra word of praise it would go to Dave who won the sympathetic vote and he really did play the part for all it was worth, such a good voice too.
Well done Playlovers, a first class show and such a good laugh, thank you.

Re: The Full Monty

For $17 dollars I was really entertained for 3 hours.
Some of the cast,at times the singing and a few of the scenes were weak, a bit corny too.Maybe just a few more rehearsals could of remedied that.
The script was well written,(even if the Americans have bastardised it and set it in America). The cast utlilised this to the best of their ability, especially in the last quarter when they came together and really worked as a team.
The scene changes were slick and the back drops effective.
I know it was money well spent when I left the musical with a bounce in my walk and a hum on my lipsThe cast exuded fun ....and the audience received it.
Well done.
