Perth Gang Show 05
Fri, 8 July 2005, 12:16 pmI went and watched the opening night of the Scouts/ Guide Perth Gang Show last night and had a ball!!
This year they present a full musical complete with original script and score exploring the adventures onboard the P.G.S Enterprise. We are introduced to the mystery of the missing Kid, the stolen Budgies and Budgie seed, the Captain who thinks he's on Star Trek and Sam Fine - He'll solve the crime.
The script has some great comedic lines and the lyrics to some of the songs, though hard to hear at times, are hilarious! The audience was in an almost continuous state of giggles with uproarous laughter at some of the efforts and antics of the cast.
The Director, Daniel Way, has done a great job enthusing the large cast (with a huge age range) with the energy needed to pull off such a production.
Scenes worth a mention are:
Meet the Detective ( drivin' in my car) - great video footage and a simple Fosse style chorus number
Caberet Show (Carmen) - although not integral to the plot, a very funny skit in drag
Engine Room Rumba - a movement piece which is well choreographed and visually effective.
Congratulations to those who are involved, and anyone interested in going - it is on at St Mary's theatre (Karrinup) at 8pm Fri 8th and Sat 9th with a matinee also on Sat. Tickets are available at the door, $16 for an adult.
Enjoy!
