I have also been involved in Prompt Corner productions (2), and can only say that the review posted by Tim (or the link he attaches) must have been from several years back, because the production he describes is unrecognisable as a Prompt Corner effort- whether or not my involvement with the company has contributed to this improvement is perhaps a moot point!
I suppose several 'weaknesses' could be fairly identified. For one, most of their shows involve younger cast members, and we know what has been said about working with children and animals. Another is that their productions are sometimes staged at the Quarry Ampitheatre, where the devil, assisted by howling westerlies, can fool with the best laid plans and props.
Aside from these minor quibbles, I am an experienced musical theatre campaigner, and I would never have tolerated a production as poor as that described (My Fair Lady). Moreover, my fellow cast members have also been of a highly presentable standard, and would also have shunned something so shambolic- if in fact it was. I didn't see it.
Prompt Corner are far from the worst amateur theatre company going around, but even if it were- you wanna see shambles, try supporting the Dockers!
