How to succeed in business without really trying
Mon, 7 Mar 2005, 03:24 pmBackstabbing, crawling, lying, half-truths, nepotism, bitching, sexism and favouritism at Gosford Musical Society?!?! Yes, it's part of the plot in Gosford Musical Society's latest production, "How to succeed in business without really trying" -- and the director has also thrown in post-modernistic deconstructionism, too!
I can't review the production because I'm helping out backstage. But -- I can recommend that if you want to see a show which has actually grown funnier since its debut over 40 years ago, get along to Gosford's theatrical treasure, Laycock Street theatre. For the next 2 weeks on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (extra matinees on Saturdays), you'll see an interesting styling of the set, some catchy tunes, great lighting, a hot band (kazoo fans should listen for those rarely-heard instruments), some good comic effects, some great characterisation, and some fine singing and dancing. What else would you want?
There's no excuse if you're from out of town -- there's transport, and don't forget the nearby restaurants and motels!
