Re: Avenue Q (CD Review)
Why bother?
I think its contrived rubbish. I smirked twice and went "Eww" once.
Try Jerry Springer - The Opera. FAR more satisfyingly hilarious and gross.

Re: Avenue Q (CD Review)
In the greater scheme of things, there is nothing really at all "gross" or worth smirking at in the Avenue Q soundtrack.
If you found yourself being overtly affected by any of the songs, it merely means you're an old fart.
Avenue Q is great for a laugh and a sing-a-long and it still lives in my CD player.

All together now...
"The Internet is really really great..."
Still chuckling almost twelve months later!

I hate it so very deeply...so very very deeply.
I agree with Mr Holt, Jerry Springer the Opera kills it in terms of comedy value.

Re: Avenue Q (CD Review)
I love them both!
I heard Avenue Q last year, and saw "it sucks to be me" on the Tony's telecast. very very very funny. It is one of my favourite CD's at the moment, plus it won best musical at the Tony's last year. But i have not seen the show live, but i'm sure it looks as good as it sounds!
on the other hand i saw The Jerry Springer Opera in London last year, and it was just fabulous, and i'm so glad they recorded the CD live, it adds a little something extra to it!
One of the best moments is right at the end where the entire cast comes out dressed like Jerry Springer and starts tap-dancing in a medley to the whole show!
Its hard to pick a winner!
Having lyrics of "This is my Jerry Springer Moment" written on the toilet paper was a stroke of genius
