The Cemetry Club ****
Sun, 1 Feb 2004, 03:31 pmI must admit that for family reasons, that I only saw the first half of this play, which is playing at the Melville Theatre.
When a play is based in America, with the main cast members being Jewish then one braces oneself for dialogue problems. However the three ladies who have formed the 'Cemetry Club' which meets monthly at their husbands' graves and then go to each others houses for tea afterwards, had similar accents - which were quite acceptable.
The three actresses captured the three very different characters very well, delivered the comedy punchlines with good timing and generally made the show most enjoyable.
Well directed, well lit and good set. It is definitely worth me paying again to see the second half!!
