Neat & Mosquito
Wed, 12 Nov 2003, 02:58 pmThe latest Blue Room shows, Neat by David Ryding and Mosquito by John Pratt, are part of Storyboards' season for 2003. The Storyboards program is presented by The Prickly Pear Ensemble, a group of local professional actors, writers and directors who are dedicated to staging new works in Perth.
Neat is a short (15 min) play, brilliantly acted by Peter Webb and Naomi Hanbury. In particular, I thought the direction, by Melissa Cantwell, was spot-on. The writing is very precise, no superfluous, rambling dialogue in this play.
Mosquito is a longer play, (perhaps an hour), about a couple of hitch-hikers, again brilliantly acted by Rod Hall and Stuart Lumsden. The writing and direction is very well executed, unfolding the lives of these men with all there complexities and contradictions.
The season finishes this Saturday...don't miss it.
The Blue Room Theatre, 53 James Street, Northbridge. Tel 9227 7005 for bookings.
