The Getaway Bus - 2 nights only
Thu, 14 Aug 2003, 11:21 pmJust saw Ingle Knight's one man show "The Getaway Bus" at the Rechabites in Perth.
This has already done the rounds a few years ago, including the Edinburgh Festival...but I had never had the chance to see it until tonight.
....LOVED IT.
Only one act, very simply staged - but a terrific collage of wonderful characters told in a very engaging way. The comic story was well constructed and meandered pleasantly between heartfelt pathos and well-timed hilarity. Ingle's physicality and expression worked seamlessly to keep me thoroughly entertained.
Only two nights left, til Sat 16th (8pm). Really worth checking out before he goes on tour. Particularly relevant to reader of this website, as a big chunk of the plot revolves around the well-observed goings on at an amateur theatre company..!
And if you're reading this in Sydney, Woollongong, Canberra, Melbourne....somewhere in Tasmania (sorry I don't know the exact schedule, ask the Perth Theatre Co) look out for it over the next two months!
Cheers
