WHAT: Roleystone Theatre Quiz Night
WHEN: Saturday, July 12
WHERE: Roleystone Country Club, Roleystone (duh), WA

I just wanted to post a quick thank you to Roleystone Theatre, and especially Quiz Master/MC/organiser, Paul Treasure, for their Quiz Night.

The evening had an unusual, but enjoyable, format. Instead of ten rounds of ten questions, interrupted by the wait for tables to hand their answers in, Paul tried something different. There was a "Super Round" of 30 questions, followed by a "Super Round" of 20 questions. After a short interval, this was repeated. Each "Super Round" was broken up into mini-rounds of five themed questions.

Overall, the questions were very good. Some easy, obvious questions, some to make you think, and some that were bloody difficult! The winning table only got 70 out of 100. However, very few of the questions were ungettable - you usually had a chance of "working them out." (Although I could see the spirits sink at some of the older tables when Paul introduced his Harry Potter mini-round.)

It was fun to do the "Super Rounds" but I don't know how successful it was at saving time - the evening still finished close to midnight. I wouldn't have held the auction so close to the end of the evening, either, but that's a personal preference.

Huge kudos to the staff of the Roleystone Country Club. Believe it or not, at the end of the evening, just as the prizes were being announced, the venue was hit with a power blackout! The staff quickly came to the rescue with plenty of candles and a few torch-bearers.

Because of these unfortunate closing circumstances, Paul and his hardworking helpers (Peter, Steven, Nicola and others) didn't get the thanks they deserved. I just wanted to rectify that.
