Tug Dumbly's Deadstar opened last night at the Blue Room Theatre.
As a staff member of the Blue Room, I very rarely post a review/endorsement for a Blue Room show however this show is great and I think everybody should come and see it.

Tug DumblyÂ’s show is amazing. This man has created a show that is a mix between a black musical, comedy, verse, drama and he does it so well. His words are quick and witty, beautifully delivered and yet he is exposing what could be his most inner self. Deadstar ventures into the dark hunger of wanting, dreading, gaining and losing stardom. This play is very intelligent, hilarious and honest.

Tug (also Triple J's resident poet laureate) has based Deadstar loosely on himself as he struggles to find a satisfying and creative career, where we follow him from a very deep spoken word poet to those times were we find ourselves serving flat whites coffees and salmon bagels. TugÂ’s musical talents also shine during this production. Toe tapping, happy dancing tunes riddled with very tongue in cheek lyrics and intelligent satire really do add to this tight show.

Tug really does keep this show intimate and crisp. The honesty is confronting and similar and I am sure we will all be able to find some relevance in ourselves, our friends and for some, our industry.

I thought it was great! DonÂ’t miss it!

Deadstar runs until 17th May 2003.
Bookings on 9227-7005

Re: Tug Dumbly's Deadstar

i absolutley, positively agree. this is a rockin' show. sometimes introspective, sometimes OTT, ALWAYS funny. i loved this show, especially the parts that appealed to my 'rock and roll sensibilities'!
i left completely inspired. go and see it. NOW!
