I went to see Pageant on opening night, Saturday 26th April, and really felt I wanted to put up a recommendation for others to do the same!

Very, very funny! It's a cleverly written and witty show, and the performances only served to support this as well as the choreography, direction, and musical direction.

The 6 pageant participants (Miss Bible Belt, Miss Industrial North East, Miss West Coast, Miss Great Plains, Miss Texas and Miss Deep South) each portrayed their stereotypical character with relish and gusto. Particular mention to Miss Industrial North East (how I cried with her departure!) and Miss Deep South (amazing talent performance - how many voices can this person hold?).

There was perhaps a bit too much upstaging by various performers, however in a laugh-pulling show such as this I felt it wasn't detrimental to the performance as a whole. Who can fail with rollerskates, and skipping in skyscraper-high platforms?

There were some very clever costumes, and some very convincing portrayals of females. Some perhaps better than others - however this seemed to add to the overall humour. 'Something extra' indeed!

So overall, a well gelling show. All onstage aspects (production, choreography) worked together to form a solid piece of work, a must see if you're looking for a giggle. Consider it recommended!
