Cripes, time's moving quickly. I've been meaning to say that I caught this show the first time around and thoroughly enjoyed it. It'll probably do more harm than good, but I wanted to give it a hearty recommendation.

Many people more qualified than I have raved about THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND (go back and check earlier messages on this page - go on, I'll wait here) so I won't embarrass myself (any more than usual) by trying to analyse the show. Suffice to say it's an excellent presentation of a collection of songs by John Kander and Fred Ebb, responsible for CABARET, CHICAGO, KISS OF THE SPIDERWOMAN, and NEW YORK, NEW YORK, amongst others.

I guess I can say the production is presented in cabaret-style, one song after another. No story, no dialogue, almost a concert. (Actually, there's supposed to be an underlying theme tying all the songs together, but I didn't pick it. Maybe I was too busy watching Amanda remove her lingerie and fling it into the audience.)

The witless heathen that I am didn't recognise most of the songs, but I enjoyed them nevertheless. There's an adage something along the lines of, "It doesn't matter if you know nothing of the subject, if it's presented well enough, you'll enjoy it." This was presented very, very well. It's rare that you hear such effusive spontaneous applause at the end of EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. It really is that good.

I know ticket prices are a bit steep, but they're trivial compared to some professional shows with a fraction of the entertainment value. Due yourself a favour....
