The World Goes 'Round
Fri, 4 Oct 2002, 11:32 amWOW!!!!
I just saw yellow glass theatre's "The World Goes 'Round" and god it was good! The cast is absolutely superb, the set is subtle yet sooo effective and the lighting is really well done too. Even the piano player sings!!!
Highlights for me were "All that Jazz" from Chicago (wow Amanda, you should sooo play Velma), "Isn't it Better" (Bree - what a find!! A beautiful girl with a voice to die for!), "Kiss of the Spider Woman" (Stuart, you're sooooo spooky singing that song), "Maybe this time" from Cabaret (Analisa could give Liza a run for her money! Pardon the pun :-p), and "Mr Cellophane" from Chicago (Chris, you're soo funny. I nearly wet myself). Other excellent bits were "The Rink", "Coffee in a Cardboard Cup", "The Grass is Always Greener" and the song where three people all sing their own different songs at the same time! WOW!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to see what that theatre company is going to do next if all their shows are going to be as good as that one! They're all so talented. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the size of the audience!! Come on everyone, its an AWESOME show. You HAVE to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can get tickets at the door which is really good.
I also like the statement they make about "performing for the love of their art and not for the profit of others". I think thats really important. I have seen lots of comments about that on this website and know that it stirs everyone up a lot. I hate people abusing others for their talents and I'm so glad that this company isn't doing that.
Anyway, just thought I'd write to let you guys know that I thought it was excellent and I'm DEFINITELY going to go again before the season finishes!!
Bravo guys, excellent debut!!!
