I went to the Blackbrid Productions premiere of A New Brain and was blown away by the staging, cast - lighting the works - I was wondering wether other people had been what they thought about it and where I could find out more about William Finn.

Re: A New Brain

I too was blown away with Blackbirds production !! Just amazing - i felt is was a cross between Sondheim and "Little Shop of Horrors".
William Finn also wrote Falsetto's.

Re: A New Brain

I'm not sure of all these facts, but here is a little I know.

The story if A New Brain is semi Auto Biographical. William Finn (Gordon Shwinn?) suffered from what was meant to be an inoperable brain tumour. (Turns out it wasn't fatal)

He worked with Sondheim on some on some of his works, which is probably why it reminded you of him.

The original casting of Gordon was meant to be Spencer McLaren from Secret Life, but he ended up pulling out.

Spencer was going to play Roger (Gordo's lover).
