Thu, 27 June 2002, 10:48 pmWhere: The Blue Room
When: 25th June to 6th July
Three Short Plays by Australian Writers
Clay Pigeons by Melissa Cantwell, directed by John Aitken
The Assurance By Steven Snell, directed by Andy King
Converging Lines by John Aitken, directed by John Aitken
I went to the preview night on Tuesday and was impressed at the quality of the stories presented. These are described as plays from the darker side and while there was certainly a dark theme running through all three plays the overall presentation was anything but.
There was enough black humour and genuine story interest in these to keep the aydience listening and waiting for the inevitable twist in the tales! The acting was professional and the cross-pollination of actors, direction and writing gave the night a pleasant ensemble feel.
If you want to see what local writers are producing this is a good place to start!
