young people in theatre
Thu, 9 May 2002, 01:43 pmI am a member of a company that encourages young people to be involved in theatre. We live in Sunbury, which is right on the outskirts of suburban Melbourne and technically is in the sticks, so ther is not an awful lot to do on the wekkends unless you can drive. Our theatre company allowed us to set up our own subsection which means that we produce our own plays with help from mentors. Our last three shows, 'Blackrock', 'Burger Brain' and 'Wyrd Sisters' have all been big successes and we now have a big following of actors and audiences alike.
We have been wondering for a while whether there are other Victorians companies which have similar groups. We have been thinking about setting up a play festival of sorts, in which people from all areas could come and see what others there own age have been doing. Our group is directed at people 15-15, and we have a childrens's section aged 5-15. If anyone is interested, please email and we'll chat.
Hope to hear from you
Rebecca
