Last nights preview was great fun. If it was nerve wracking for the actors(and it'd have to be wouldn't it?),they didn't show it.
Improvised theatre has much potential to surprise and delight audiences;SOAR did both on a fairly consistant basis.
Glen Hall had the right touch as the "glue",holding the whole thing together, and with quick wit and occasionally "taking the piss",kept the audience/players link strong.
Considering it was a preview,I felt the players were very quick to use the impro style to great effect, and the show maintained a rollicking pace. This pleased me as I love the word rollicking!
The music added richness to the piece but came at the expense of losing the amazing acting skills and comic timing of Luke Hewitt (I confess to a bias here;Luke Maaaattteee)
The "return at a cheaper price" idea is novel And may result in chronic attenders,or Soap groupies?Soapies perhaps???
I hope to return myself to Accapellago Rise to see what may unfold in that locust infected Cul De Sac.
I was also drawn to the show to see some of the regular contributors to this site in person& I must say,Gibson,Toby&Craig you look nothing like I imagined;;;AND,you're all so bloody young;yes you too Craig.
Keep up 6t he fun& energy as you not only bring people into the theatre, but also into the action. This is close to what I imagine it may have been likein the dayys when the Globe was staging the Bards little concerts---Hey ,ther's an idea, maybe Healthway could provide fruit& veg to be used at the descretion of the audience!!!
Good on youse VIVA VOX THEATRE!!
