I went to see DonÂ’s Party presented by GRADS at the Dolphin Theatre, at UWA last Friday night.

Set in the late 1960’s this ‘classic’ Australian play by David Williamson encapsulates the ideals and values of Australian society of that era. Williamson visits many key issues including that of class and gender. It’s a play about sex, drunkenness, relationships and politics.

I felt that the entire cast were fantastic; they had the audience laughing from start to finish while adding credence to this Australian classic. This is not only a credit to themselves but also to their director Grant Malcolm.

While I would love to comment individually on each of the cast members because no doubt they all deserve it, I will only make mention of a few characters for the simple reason that I am bound to get some of the names wrong!!!!!

Justin Barrett in the role of ‘Cooley’ was brilliant, very entertaining and definitely instrumental in adding to this the hilarious comedy. ‘Don’ & ‘Kath’ were great as the hosts of the party, and were very realistic in their performance. Last but definitely not least was the role of ‘Jenny’ played by Kerri Hilton. I am an ex-student of Kerri’s and after having her as a teacher and director I have to admit that I was very tempted to take along my pen and paper and make notes on her performance, but I changed my mind because the fact is that she was great!!!
So now after seeing Kerri in DonÂ’s Party, I have to agree with an earlier message posted by Dean (A Great Mystery to be revealed!!!!)
All I can say to this message is YES!!
Don’s Party reveals the “GREAT MYSTERY” of Kerri Hilton!!!!!!!

Finally congratulations to everyone involved in the production of DonÂ’s Party - a great show!!! AND to those who havenÂ’t seen the show make sure you catch it before it finishes, its well worth a look!!!
