The Brick and The Rose

I saw Damage Theatre's production of this play last night at Mojos in North Fremantle and was most impressed. A troupe of 8 young actors, all well skilled and ragingly familiar with the material gave a slick, high energy and beautifully timed performance which was much appreciated by the packed (mostly youthful) house. Well done! When are you on next?
I am scratching for a crit, but I would just say that there could have been a little more variation in the energy levels to heighten the dramatic effect from time to time. Maybe that's just me.
I am used to Mojos (Formerly the Stoned Crow) as an alternate music venue and am pleased to see it being used for alternate theatre as well. Should do something about the prehistoric toilets but!

I would like to thank SS and Stinger for coming to see our production and any one else who managed to make it down on a cold, rainy Tuesday night! We were so happy with the turnout, expecting only 80 people we were bowled over (as were the bar staff) when we had 231 people turn up, I apologize for the lack of seating and room! The cast are so appreciative, it really made the wrap up night of our school tour a special one. Thank you also to Stinger and SS for reviewing - we have had feedback, but only from friends and our high school audiences which makes it difficult to have a balanced perspective at times. I agree that there could have been a little more variation in energy levels and I also agree that there could have been more use of the 'vocalised soundscapes'. In regards to accents - unfortunately (and disappointingly) I found myself not only losing my accent on a few words but slipping into a Southern American accent! I won't speak for the rest of the cast, but I found that sustaining an accent was one of the more difficult aspects of my performance. So without wanting to gush, I want to humbly thank all who came down and helped make our night a success.
