The show must go on
Sun, 2 Aug 1998, 11:54 amI attended a very creditable performance of Ira Levin's Death Trap last week at Roleystone theatre and I would like to congratulate all involved in the production. I understand that the production had been plagued by difficulties yet from the audience point of view the show went on without a hitch. As I understand it a few weeks before opening night illness took its toll and the leading man and the director had to pull out, a replacement lead was found but after reading the part decided that he could not do it in the time available. So with only two weeks to go the director's wife decided that the gender should be changed and she took the part as a female lead. After the second night of the show one of the active supporters of Roleystone Theatre was killed in a car crash going home from the theatre and the night I saw the show the whole cast & crew had been at the funeral. Despite all these difficulties the show went on and the audience enjoyed a good night out. Congratulation to all concerned.
