Here's one for you Tracey:-
"Is there any truth to the rumour that a certain star of a Cash Converters ad is about to sign a lucrative contract to endorse Jenny Craig through all forms of media? Of course they will have to offer more than an Olive branch to secure this wonderful (and oh so svelte)
star."

Too right, Trace! What's the point of being in theatre without a good ol' goss session?
Trouble is, I don't have anything to gossip about - unless I want to get myself in deep****!

As for myself.. well.. I have only mild hints of such greasy little tidbits.. Should I say or should I go?

Well.....
If you're suuuure....
In one show I'm involved in.. I won't say which.. There is a slight discrepancy at times as to who is doing the directing and who is doing the acting.
Now as the circumstances go, this is all fine and well as it appears to be what the directors want... a little feedback and input never hurt anyone.
What we're worried about is that this "director" is good at telling everyone else what to do, but no one seems to have seen him do what he's actually supposed to do....
I'll leave it there for now..
Hope that's enuff:)

RE: Sex Sells - Links
Sheesh! Commenting on my own posts!
But i thought people might be interested in following this one through with some further reading.
Here's an article about Bell's Troilus and Cressida
and a glowing review from Tim Richards at Stage Left
While we're at it you might like to check out this spirited interview with Australian paywright, Stephen Sewell that contains this marvellous quote that i'm sure will ring true for many of us!
"For 20 years I have been giving the same sort of speech to theatre audiences that ... the only kind of theatre that makes any sense is theatre of passion. I've been saying it all that time and it hasn't changed a thing. It's just gotten worse ... I'm really tired of just being the idiot screaming when everyone else around me is saying hey, it's all right, I like it."
Cheers

RE: Gossip? mwahahah sure yeah right.
What kind of a prick am I? Hmm?
I mean, really.. gossiping like this about people and shows.. It's down right rude and conniving.
This is not what I actually intended my push for gossip to be about as it might end up hurting people's feelings. Don't you all agree?
The fact of the matter is, gossip is all good and fine, but where do we draw the line? Are we really entitled to bad mouth people like this? I don't think so and I fear I may ha've done people wrong by doing so.
So to gossip or not to gossip... (Yeah okay, shoddy rip off I know) But seriously.. I guess it may draw similarities to that whole Secret Squirrel business (which I was hoping this would all detract from because that really was getting vicious) is there a limit to what we should say?
I say DEFINITELY!
So the actual bit of real gossip I have for you is this:
Finding men to do a production in theatre can be difficult, we all know this right?
Well.. my bit of gossip is more of a question... Why are men who are in demand so reluctant to step out of their "comfortable" state of being?
Cos casting a show I am doing has been bloomin difficult for such reasons (Then again maybe it's just me putting everyone off as I said what a prick I am). Thankfully, however I've managed to scrape together some talented people for the show and I'm sure they're all gonna do a great job!
So pop on down to Curtin University on the 17th of September at 8pm (yes a Sunday) and come see two wonderful shows (mine included) for only $6.
If ya miss it... You'll be soooooorrrrrry.
