anyone know where the plays that appear at Black Swan get their actors from? casting/modeling agencies? or is it all 2 do with contacts?
Also, where do i find out about auditions 4 non-amateur productions?

hehe and when you complained before of being "too talented 4 this shitty city" i thought you must have been writing about being in Melbourne

all of the above?

i'd guess that modelling agencies are only rarely if ever approached to cast mainhouse productions at a company like Black Swan and then there are relatively few casting agencies in Perth.

What's the story these days? I passed in my Equity membership about 8 years ago and am well out of the loop. Frog, ACE and Actors Management is what i hear. Can anyone expand on this?

Your agent, check the West, check notice boards (Blue Room esp.), read the boards here....

RE: Black Swan theater co.

hey grant - what's the 'Equity'? some kind of actor's guild?
just about everyone who appears in tv commercials & tv shows comes from a modeling/casting agency, unless you're unfairly talented or funny (like say, Dave Letterman.)
aren't modeling & casting services mutually exclusive? or r there agencies in Perth that just deal with castings, & no modeling? i'm interested in theater as a way of getting into television. but i don't want 2 do amateur stuff cos it takes outta my study time & i'm not getting paid 4 my efforts.

some might say they are mutually exclusive

uhuh i don't know too many people locally that do theatre for the money. most of them would earn a lot more money doing something else. so i guess they're doing it for the love of it. which might make it amateur.

On the agents biz, i've heard from one actor surprised to hear that he's now with a modelling agency. i guess he doesn't ring his agent very often.
