While it's certainly encouraging to see so many productions listed in the "What's On" section, call me selfish, but I didn't want the play that I'm in to get lost in the shuffle.

Moonlighting for KADS at the moment, "It's My Party (and I'll Die if I Want to)" opens this Friday (April 28). Written by Elizabeth Coleman (author of "Secret Bridesmaids' Business") and directed by Ann Farrell ("Jigsaws"), "It's My Party..." is a bloody funny show.

Dad (Peter Fry) calls his family together and announces that, three months ago, he was given three months to live. Since he is going to die this very evening, he claims that he wants to resolve any unfinished family business, (but really just wants the wife and kids to tell him what a great husband and father he's been). Of course, disbelief and recriminations ensue and the whole thing turns into a very funny slanging match as family truths emerge.

Contrary to the "What's On" section, the play finishes by 10 PM (and not 11.30 AM the following morning). It stars five very talented actors (and one loudmouth hack) and is highly recommended if you're looking for a light evening's comedy.
