Looking at the poll result today, (assuming Grant has fixed his duplication problem), a garden party looks the go. May I suggest that the lovely grounds at the Festival of Perth office on Mounts Bay Road, Matilda Bay would be an ideal venue.

Sorry to disappoint, but wrong assumption!
I've done what i can to fix the multiple vote problem - short of requiring people to provide a valid email address each time they vote. However, the system is still, potentially, open to abuse. The Finley Format results represent nothing salvageable, we really need to run that poll again with the new safeguards in place to get any idea at all of what a sensible result might be.

I think the poll results are of questionable value anyway. Only a tiny percentage of people involved in theatre in WA participate and they are possibly atypical of the population too. The polls really only give us a vague idea of what the people visiting the website think and tell us little or nothing about the wider community.
The greatest value of the polls is in promoting discussion and consideration of issues of relevance to theatre. Hopefully some of the discussion and ideas generated filters through to committees and audiences.

mmmm... what would happen to the performance aspect of the evening? I personally consider the awards aspect of the event to be of little real value (check out this link for some interesting debates a year or so ago http://theatre.asn.au/read.php3?num=8&id=326&loc=0&thread=326 ) but have always enjoyed the performances as a celebration of the variety and depth of what community theatre offers. I think a cabaret format might also restrict the breadth of genre of the material on show.
Cheers
Grant
