Finley Awards Tickets
Mon, 6 Dec 1999, 11:55 pmHave you booked your ticket yet ??
I'm doing the bookings and have noticed that several clubs have not ordered tickets yet.
If they win and nobody is there to collect the prize, I suggest we put the money on the bar and not tell them !!! ( I'm kidding....I'll spell that out before I get flamed by a troll without a sense of humour.)
SERIOUSLY - Please, please ensure that your tickets have been booked, as it would be a shame to miss out on receiving prizes. It is also looking like it will be a great night.
Ring me (9291 5045) or email me yak@abacus.com.au if you have any questions.

RE: Finley Awards Tickets
This is a subject that was discussed at last night's monthly ITA meeting. Several comments were made - and I agree totally - along the lines of, "What sort of club would go to the effort and expense of entering a production in the Finley Awards, and then not turn up to the Presentation Evening? What sort of director would not be interested in seeing how their production fared?"
What sort of person buys a lotto ticket and doesn't check the numbers?
Yes, I know, I'm sure there are some directors who will attest that it was the club's decision to enter the Finleys and not theirs, but that doesn't excuse a club representative from attending. A comment was made that perhaps clubs are simply leaving bookings until the last minute, but surely, no one in the independent theatre community would EVER leave things until the last minute...
>> If they win and nobody is there to collect the prize, I suggest we put the money on the bar and not tell them !!!
Forget that! If somebody wins and there is no one to come up on stage and take the cash prize from me, then I'm taking it with me to Europe. End of story.
While we STRONGLY encourage people to make their bookings THIS WEEK, there will be tickets available at the door if people decide to come along at the last minute.
Please try to make it to the WA Independent Theatre Night of Nights. We promise to deliver entertaining new excerpts, a talented new guest co-host, and the same old crappy MC. See you there.
Jarrod Buttery,
President, ITA.

hehe don't get me started...
Seriously though, while i've got some misgivings about the awards, it's always a great night of entertainment and i'm only sorry i'll be doing a little entertaining of my own and can't attend.
Chookas to all involved.
Cheers
