Why is community theatre so bitchy?

People working intensely together, putting themselves on the line, having to place a great deal of trust in each other, long hours, no pay, little recognition, if any.... it's hardly going to be a bed of roses.How you handle the pressure is a product of the people you work with, the environment you work in, but most of all your own attitude.Is (community) theatre a bitchy business?
